LAOLU'S LETTER

Early December 2017 was a period full of emptiness and stagnancy. In a desperate effort to find some direction, I started to pray in hopes of gaining some clarity... maybe even finding purpose. I spent plenty of time with my head in my Bible. In every verse that spoke volumes, there was a certain word that kept appearing. You guessed right. It was a simple, yet powerful word. “Prosper”. That, my dear, is how our org came to be. 

Jeremiah 29:11 to be exact.

 Throughout the previous semester, I had experienced more than enough setbacks and tragedy- as many college students do. During a moment of reflection, I came to the realization that I had no clue what my identity meant to me. This played a significant role in causing many different struggles my freshmen year.

Everyone has identity struggles. It's inevitable when you're coming of age. You start to wonder what purpose you are meant to fulfill or legacy you need to leave behind. How are you going to Prosper? This organization was created to help that process of self-discovery through developing a stronger sense of self and encouraging hope and positivity.

“We are blessed to bless others” is another notion I hold dear to my heart (thanks mama). I couldn't help but add it as a Prosper Pillar. Selfless service does wonders for the world. The most subtle act could have a substantial effect- a domino effect. Serving one person encourages them to serve another, and so on. Giving back to our communities has a lasting impact on our society at large.
